These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Helsinki Design Lab’s websites (the “Website”), and any information, text, graphics, or other materials uploaded, downloaded or appearing on the Website (collectively referred to as “Content”). The Website is created and operated by Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund ("Sitra"). Your access to and use of the Website is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. By accessing or using the Website you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Sitra makes every effort to keep the information on the Website correct and updated. However, Sitra provides the site without warranty of any kind and “as is”. The purpose of this site is purely informative, and under no circumstances will Sitra be liable for any direct or indirect damage, or damage caused by the use or trust in the information and contents presented on the Website, or loss of profit or income. Sitra does not guarantee that the Website can be used without interruption or errors. Sitra will not be liable for any damages that are caused by interruptions in the use of the Website or an inability to access the site.

The Website that Sitra provides is always evolving and may change from time to time without prior notice to you.

Sitra will not be responsible or liable for any use of your Content by Sitra in accordance with these Terms.

Restrictions on Content and Use of the Website

We reserve the right at all times to remove or refuse to distribute any Content on the Website and to terminate users or reclaim usernames. Please review the Community Rules (which are part of these Terms) to better understand what is prohibited on the Website. We also reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any information as we reasonably believe is necessary to (i) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, (ii) enforce the Terms, including investigation of potential violations hereof, (iii) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, (iv) respond to user support requests, or (v) protect the rights, property or safety of Sitra, the Website users and the public.

Sitra respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of the Website to do the same.  We reserve the right to remove from the Website the Content alleged to be infringing copyright without prior notice and at our sole discretion.

Community Rules

We welcome open debate, but users of the Website (including its administrators) are expected to abide by the following Community Rules. Sitra reserves the right to immediately terminate your account and remove your Content without further notice in the event that, in its judgment, you violate these Rules or the Terms of Use.

  • No foul, aggressive, or abusive language will be tolerated. As a community of professionals, we will converse with each other in a civilized manner.
  • No personal attacks will be allowed. Disagreements are OK, but personal attacks on individuals (whether they are users of this Website or not) are not allowed.
  • No advertising or spamming. Helsinki Design Lab is run as a non-profit activity and we expect your use of the Website to uphold the same spirit. It is our goal to keep the Website free from advertising and spam. We do not allow companies or individuals to actively market products, services, or websites to board members.

Changing the Terms

These terms of use are effective from 15.4.2010 and they are valid until further notice. Sitra has the right to change or replace these Terms of use unilaterally. The date when the Terms have last been changed will be mentioned in connection with the Terms.

Governing law

These Terms and possible disputes over the Website or their content will be governed by the laws of Finland.
